Who is Neppe?
Neppe Pettersson is 46 years old, born in Turku in the south
of Finland, but has been living in Vasa in Ostrobotnia since
1986. She has a degree in child education and child
psychology.
Who is Neppe - the tv-producer?
Neppe has been working at
YLE (= "the BBC of
Finland")
eighteen years with childrens programming. She has been
hosting several shows, and been a featured storyteller in
series of folktales. Since the beginning of 2005 Neppe is a
freelancer producer.
Who is Neppe - the storyteller?
After becoming famous from the tv-shows, Neppe was
invited to tell stories to live audiences from the early 90's.
Her popularity grew, and she started working part-time as a
storyteller. Now she is a full-time storyteller, giving workshops and
lectures in storytelling, and traveling around with performances.
What kind of stories does Neppe like?

Kalevala - the national epic of Finland is one of the main
favourites. Neppe retells all stories, for young and adult
audiences, sometimes accompanying herself on the kantele
* folktales from the Swedishspeaking minority of Finns -
belonging to the minority has given a growing interest in the
collections of folktales and legends. Neppe tells both wonder
tales, ghost stories and the silly stories of the numbskulls or
noodleheads from the village of Bemböle
* and a lot more!
Does Neppe perform in English?
Neppe's main work is in Swedish, and mostly in Finland, but also in
the Scandinavian countries. But she also gives workshops and
performs in Finnish. Right now Neppe is preparing Finnish stories to
be told in English in Brussels, Belgium.
Neppe is active in the Nordic storytelling movement, and has also
been involved in an European project.
